One night Lavencia was awakened by the spirit of God to enter into worship. The Lord spoke to her and said, “People are searching for a place of refreshment and a worship experience. I am commissioning you to bring the spirit of worship into dry places and I will move by my spirit and they will know there is a deeper place of intimacy with me that I desire of them. Be not afraid of their faces, for I am with you. You will be my music box. My presence will manifest strongly as you open your mouth to sing my songs and my melodies for I have placed my music box in your spirit. They will hear my heart as you get lost in worship before me.” Lavencia now takes the music box God has placed in her spirit to those dry places and God truly honors His word and promise to her. As she opens her mouth and sings the song of the Lord, the spirit of the Lord enters and takes people to a place in God that brings refreshment, healing, repentance and deliverance. It is His song she sings. It is His heart they hear. It is the heart of worship from His music box.

Dr. Lavencia DeBerry has her Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Memphis and throughout her teaching career has had many award-winning choirs to receive superior awards and lead praise and worship services at numerous youth rallies. Her choirs have won awards from the West Tennessee Vocal Association, Disney World, and Six Flags over Dallas TX. She has performed with the University of Memphis Gospel Choir, University Singers, Edwin Hawkins Seminar Choir, Opera Memphis’ production of Porgy and Bess, and a musical called Evening of Soul written by Erma Clanton. Dr. DeBerry is available for choir seminars, music workshops, and praise and worship services. She is also gives private piano and voice instruction.
